Hi! I'm LilGhostling or just Ghostling (or just Ghost for short). I’ve been around the MCRP sphere seriously for like 3 years, but I’ve RP’d since earlier in Discord roleplays. I’m a beginner artist, and I like to set up and write events and storylines for others the most in RP. I hope to have a lot of fun here!!

In-Character

The rhythmic lull of hoofbeats are a marching drum to the small group of pioneers and variety of folk you have found yourself amongst, packed into a wobbling wagon. The rolling plains of the Southern Reach and a clear sky stretch out all around you, the buzz of excited chatter a dull wash in your ears as your mind strays to your former life and what has led you here to new lands.

“Nervous?”

You blink, returning to the present moment. A kindly older woman sat near you is smiling warmly with a crinkle to her eyes.

“I can tell it’s your first time. Still remember mine,” she flashes a grin and leans in.

“Tell me my dear, why have you come to the Reach?”

The woman’s tired expression meets the older lady, her face now revealed beyond her long hair and the frills of her bonnet. She gives her a short smile.

“It’s the first time I ever travel, miss.” - she talks in a soft whisper, loud enough for the woman to hear - “Housemaidens like I never are allowed to tread too far from the reaches of their homesteads, I merely just happen to not have one anymore.”

She raises a hand delicately and tucks a silken strand of hair behind her ear “It’s not been too long a journey, though. I come from the Duchy of Rulan, Katrinsa, to be more exact. My family owns a vineyard there, though the decay of The Wall has dwindled the clientele my family's inns once saw.” Words of an almost ignored realm, only kept alive by the barely smuggled goods brought by the Waljacks or the fighters sent to The Wall or as mercenaries, their once glorious vineyards and stonemasons receding to mere obscurity as the land was abandoned by most of the Valkian Realm's attention. The old lady was not a stranger to seeing people from the Duchy away from home. “Yet no crown they got was ever meant for me.” Mellory clarified.

She blinks, her eyes a pale purple that occupies all space, a sign of the fey-touched lineage that stains her otherwise human blood. “Children like me are not so often seen as gifts.” Her voice is somewhat raspy, tired in its whisper. “And I always have been pushed aside as the housemaiden, the young sister who must clean the inn and the wine spilt by the guests. More a servant than a member of my own family.”

She pauses, giving the old lady a reassuring smile, closing her eyes to match, highlighting her heavy eye bags. “Don’t worry, miss, I was content with such a life myself. It was a better one than my brothers’, who had all been sent to guard The Wall as the King-Emperor ordered the Duchy to bring more men to the front in recent years.” - “It didn’t matter if business was slowly dying or if a drunkard stepped on my hand; I was safe and didn’t need to think much at all.”

She leans back a bit, caressing with her hand her own belongings that rested before her. “Eventually, they married me to some renowned stonemason from the guild, and we started a family…” Her eyes close as she ceases the movement of her hands, with a faint smile. “My daughter was lucky not to inherit my eyes, but her hair was dark and silken like my mother’s and mine…” Her voice slightly breaks and shakes; she exhales before stating. “Our house caught fire before the harvest festival, and I lost everything in one night.”

“I’m sorry.” the old lady replied, hesitant to know what else to say. She reaches her hand a bit forward, wanting to provide comfort to the mourning woman.

Mellory doesn’t notice and keeps talking, more to herself than anyone else. “They blamed me for it, ignoring any word I could say. I became an outsider in my own town, well, more than I usually was. It seems easier to blame the cursed woman than anyone else, doesn’t it?” She finally turns to the old lady, this time with a short smile on her face, crooked and twisted in amusement at something unknown. It quickly fades away like it was merely a trick of the eye, “I followed the roads where the Walljacks travelled south from Katrinsa, through The Wall. It was my first time spending the harvest festival away from the town. There were no games, no events, no warm meals in the fields surrounded by a community for me; just the cold as I wandered alone through the autumn. The roads and some caring travellers eventually led me to this caravan, eastward of the Walljack’s swamps, on its way to a fresh start for me in a land just as cursed as I am.”

She stops and quietly clears her throat, raising her head again “Excuse my manners, miss, I started speaking with no end without even saying my name. I’m Mellory Arskic, a pleasure to meet you,” She says with a sweeter tone as her hand goes to meet the older lady’s. It's cold as a corpse, making the older lady feel shivers down her spine. The lilac-eyed woman smiles as she stares directly into her eyes, a blush on her sickly pale cheeks, and the lady could feel a sense of uncertainty; something felt wrong, something was wrong about that smile.

Character Name: Mellory Arskic

Character Race: Half-fey touched/Half Human

Character Age: 29

Brief Physical Description: A human-looking woman standing at 5’2 feet and almost unhealthily skinny. She has a pale complexion that’s clearly unnatural, her natural tone having faded away; instead, it looks sickly, nearly taking on a greenish tone. That feeling of an unnatural look remains on her eyes, pale and purple, which cover the whole space, a sign of fey-touched lineage that only makes her appearance more otherworldly. Her hair is long, dark, and silky; it appears to have not been properly maintained or treated in a while, remaining messy and tangled. She wears a plain dress with exposed shoulders covered by a simple white apron that the average housemaiden would have. Her head is covered by a white maid’s bonnet that extends forward into adorned frills, vaguely obscuring her face.

Hello! My name is Blinx, and I'll be handling your whitelist application.

Well done on the lore and the more granular details! I've got a bit of feedback regarding one main point, which is that while trade did pass through the Reach largely due to the Walljacks, the Aedall themselves weren't the recipients -- mostly the obstacle as per the Walljack page: "Before the Aedall vanished, these were the few who were willing to brave (or trick) their way around those Arsa Sidhe who did not want them in the Reach — becoming vital in trade through the south and to the east." Rulan's page notes that the recipients of these goods were and are generally the Falstoners to the East. As a result, the Aedall vanishing wouldn't have impacted trade in the way Mellory describes. I'd request the passage be altered to reflect that, however you see fit.

Leave a reply here when you have, so I'll be notified and can get back to you quickly!

Hello! Sorry, I misunderstood the correlations between one thing and the other. I have edited the application now to alter the small detail in the whole description and clarify that the decline comes less from lack of trade from the Walljacks and more from the attention of most of the Valkian realm receding from The Wall after the Aedall were no longer an issue.
