Mage Application
Players interested in becoming a mage, please read the arcane mechanics page.
As the people of the Spire establish, so too do the patrons that have taken to the location—their followers, other potent mages or arcane entities, have become more established, prevalent and known.
Already there are dissidents espousing sponsorship in the absence of the changeling Nyx, expanding their own collections to propagate their own power for an eventual grab. Followers of Facet draw near to answer the call and uphold their own oaths, pawns of Ciren’na shuffle about in her grand game, and the machinations of Xinshi become more and more apparent.
Magic is no longer confined to the overtly magical; it becomes more and more spread amongst the people that pursue it.
Please note: characters should be at least a week old before making a mage application; this is just to make sure they have a chance to settle into the world. You will want something to talk about to interest your patron! Mages must wait at least one month before putting in a request for ascending to a higher rank. It is highly encouraged that you create a mage card for your character in the Arcane thread for ease of tracking your progress.
Once a patron and conduit are picked out and you feel your character has qualities in-line with your desired patron, fill out the form below and reply to this thread! A member of Lore will reach out to arrange an encounter if your desired patron or their retinue. Those that seek magic through another player character must still reply to this thread.

What is your pitch to your patron? Why should they give you magic? (connect with what they value!):
The application has been updated, now entailing “Patronage” (the overarching Patron in question) and “Conduit”, which will be the method in which the character is made a mage. Patronage will still determine what Patron Cantrips may be taken.
Conduit options are thus:
- Patron - RP: Potentially the longest to set-up. This is the current standard of initiation, which entails a direct meeting with the Patron.
- Patron - Emote: Likely the least engaging. This is a forum or Discord-emoted reply to the application, and does not necessarily give much time for reply, if any.
- Underling - RP: Quicker turnaround. An NPC played by a member of Lore Team has a direct meeting with the applicant character in-game.
- Underling - Discord: Via a ticket, an NPC played by a member of Lore Team directly meets with the applicant character.
- Underling - Emote: Similar to the Patron - Emote option, a mage NPC reply to a post on the forum. Most likely the fastest turnaround, but potentially the least involved.
- Mage - RP: The most circumstantial; this requires an existing mage character of Level 3 or above to initiate the applicant character. Even if you have fully set-up this route, please post it nonetheless.
