Character name: Grist Nackle
Desired Fable: Lady of the Lake (Oath of Bravery)
What has your character done to qualify them for the fable / gather the attention of the fable?:
Grist has lived a very long time, and he never really gave the fables any thought. Within his years he has travelled across the world, made merry with strangers, and fought others with blood on his knuckles and a smile on his face. Since he arrived at the Spire, though… he has felt utterly unfulfilled. There has been no goal to look forward to. No purpose to devote himself to. He looked to the past, regretting the choice he made to leave his pact, to leave the only family he had ever had.
But then... he started to find people. Ones who, when he talked to them, or performed on his banjo for them, he felt the very fulfillment he had been chasing all his life. It nearly did, when he helped a friend, a pactmate, eradicate cultists who would see the world consumed by rot, his final blow ending the conflict as he fell unconscious.
After all, he’s lived his life. Now, he must make sure the path is paved for those who come after. For those who will inherit everything he spent his life trying to understand.
A cause that is shared with one who stands above him, it would seem. In his old age, he has started to think that, perhaps, certain fables are worth more thought after all… Perhaps, the Lady of the Lake would bestow unto him the strength that his aging body lacked...
