Avalore’s staff team is divided into four main teams: Community, Lore, Systems, and Technical. The Lore team is broken down into several smaller teams as well, each with a team lead. These teams are overseen by our team of Admins. This page outlines each staff team, their responsibilities, and the rules around decision-making. Interested in joining staff? Community
Admin: Community Moony
The Community team is focused on outreach to players, handling whitelisting, the newsletter, and generally ‘new player’ (and old player!) questions. The entire team works together on various projects, though not everyone on the team is necessarily involved in everything (e.g. not everyone is writing the newsletter).

Mentors
Our Mentors are individuals who help with new players, including by answering questions and processing whitelist applications. A Mentor is not necessarily a member of staff, though many of them are also members of our community team. A mentor can choose to also join our community staff team, or they can simply be a mentor and help out when they can!
Lore
Admin: Lore TheDeester
The Lore team is responsible for all the storytelling that goes on in Avalore. That includes organizing our server campaigns, background setting and world-building lore, bestiary and flora, fable encounters, and arcane underlings.
To manage the vast workload of the Lore team, it is broken down into smaller teams, each with a team lead. Anyone in Lore can join as many of these smaller teams as they like, and can collaborate across them; the main purpose is that certain decisions about what each team handles can be decided by the team-lead, without needing approval from the Lore Admin. The Lore Admin reserves the right however to veto a decision of a team lead if they feel it is necessary - ideally with consultation of the team, first.
Anything that does not fall under a unique team is handled by the lore team at large, with any approvals coming from the Lore Admin.
Campaign
Lead: Lore Soup
The Campaign team handles running of the server campaign, and as such each campaign will generally have a different person as the campaign team lead (and a different campaign team entirely!). While the team is led by a member of the Lore team, the members of the campaign team can be anyone, including normal player volunteers! We want our campaigns to be as accessible as possible which requires us opening up to as many people as possible.
Any decisions about the Campaign’s arc / trajectory, so long as it does not fundamentally change server lore, can be approved by the Campaign Lead.

Flora & Fauna
Lead: Lore electricwisekid
The Flora & Fauna team is in charge of our entire bestiary, including your everyday creatures, fey, spectres, ghouls, necrophages, and vampires. Similarly, any unique lore around flora that may be used for alchemy is handled by this team, in coordination with Systems.
Any decisions about the lore of plants or creatures in Avalore, so long as it does not fundamentally change the setting of the world, can be approved by the Flora & Fauna lead.

Setting & Worldbuilding
Lead: Lore Reedie_ (temporary)
The Setting & Worldbuilding team is in charge of maintaining our Compendium (with the exception of the bestiary), handling setting & historical questions, and reviewing lore submissions. New cultures, factions, politics, and historical events are all edited and approved by this team. This team is also responsible for DM'ing 'off-map' events, such as politics within the Valkian Realm.
Any decisions about notable places, minor factions and sub-cultures, or historical events in line with existing lore can be approved by the Setting & Worldbuilding lead. Changes involving new main cultures, major factions/locations (think continent sized), or historical events that fundamentally change the setting must be approved by the Lore Admin.

Fables (hybrid)
Leads: Lore DerKommissar_ (temporary) and Systems DerKommissar_
The Fables team is in charge of everything Fables: their lore, their custom/fabled feats, and of course, actual Fable encounters. This team is a hybrid, with the Lore side of things focused on the lore and events of fables, whereas the Systems side is focused more so on the custom feats and items Fables may give out. That being said, everyone on the system is encouraged to contribute to whatever matters they feel most connected with.
Any decisions about the lore or mechanics associated with Fables can be approved by both team leads, so long as it does not fundamentally change the worldbuilding / setting of the world. Generally, the Systems lead should defer to the Lore lead’s thoughts on lore, and vice versa for mechanics; but both should work together.

Systems
Admin: Systems Reedie_
The Systems team is responsible for all the mechanical sides of Avalore, i.e. our custom game rules that make roleplay and combat possible. This includes combat mechanics (weapons, armour, health, etc.), feats, the arcane*, alchemy, crafting, and XP progression.
As we want all of our mechanics to be cohesive with each other, all of Systems reviews all mechanics on a rotating basis, rather than having separate teams for each part of the team’s responsibility (with the exception of Fables which are a hybrid team with Lore).
* Arcane underlings can be DM’d by any Systems or Lore member, so long as they have discussed it with the staff member in charge of a given patron.
